Meet our team
During 30 years of pastoral ministry, Pastor Sam ministered internationally and was a senior church administrator. He was inspired to transition his ministry to help others improve their health and wellbeing, after going on his own wellness journey. He’s since completed a doctorate and is now leading the ministry and counselling aspects of Unochenta’s work. Pastor Sam is also a very practical man and can be found planting/harvesting in the fields or doing plumbing and maintenance work on the farm.
Rowena is an experienced educator and business woman, who is now using her teaching skills to support, inform and develop others. She is an accomplished cook and enjoys developing new plant- based recipes to demonstrate that healthy plant-based cooking can also be flavoursome, as well as wholesome. Rowena enjoys using the freshest produce from the farm garden and teaching others how to live a healthier more sustainable life. Motivated by her journey of grief and the life of their son Andrew, Rowena also facilitates bereavement support groups, through the Unochenta charity.

What we do
We endeavour to empower individuals, to make a holistic "Unochenta" (180-degree) change leading to a healthier life. This includes:
- Counselling
- Bereavement support
- Plant based cooking recipes/demonstrations
- Life style coaching
- Natural living
At Unochenta we aim to live as self-sufficiently as possible and ensure we are environmentally friendly and make positive impacts in the local community.
Southern Spain has the ideal climate. The location is rural yet accessible to the beautiful beaches in the area. It is near a small village with delightfully warm local people and interesting things to do and places to go. Above all, the farm is isolated enough to give the sense of tranquillity, renewal and peace we knew would be so beneficial to all our guests.”
Our story
Sam shares: “I was obese and suffering from a range of chronic illnesses when I decided I needed to make some serious changes in my life.
I realised that to make a 180-degree lifestyle change, I needed a clear head with space and time away from the usual distractions and challenges of life. The unwavering support I had from my wife, Rowena, in my own journey highlighted the crucial importance of having someone to support and guide in that transition.
The dramatic and transformative effects I experienced, inspired me to motivate and encourage others. I completed a doctorate in naturopathy in November 2020 to deepen my knowledge of how to help others on their journey to wellness. And together, Rowena and I found the ideal facility in Southern Spain."
